"Organized in 1951" Walnut Creek Church Used Old School In Beginning (Published in The Franklin Press, January 30 1958) An old school building served as the first church for the Walnut Creek Baptist Church, which was organized July 15, 1951. But the church's active congregation was not content with this arrangement for long and in September, 1954, the foundation for a new church was laid. Feb 20, 1955, the congregation held its first service in the new building Members of the building committee were Everett Mashburn, Aaron Hedden, and Ernest Hedden. George Hedden prepared the plans for the church. Walnut Creek church organized in 1951 with 16 members. The Rev Frank Reed was elected pastor. Aaron Hedden, treasurer, and Mrs Alice Keener, clerk. Aaron Hedden, Everett Mashburn, and Ernest Hedden were deacons. The Rev George Cloer is the present pastor of the church. The treasurer is Everett Mashburn and Mrs Elmira Hedden is clerk. Present membership in the church is 56. Sunday school officers are Everett Mashburn, supertendint, and Miss Linda Mashburn, secretary. (transcribed January 14, 2006) |
